Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, CA.,  ---- We currently live in a world where millions of families are headed by single parents, more than 40% of children are being raised without their fathers, thousands of blended families form every day, and children who live in a divided or blended family are three times more likely to need psychological counseling than other children.

Merissa V. Grayson, a Family Law Attorney, Mediator, and Co-Parent Coach attributes much of this amplified need for psychological counseling to the co-parenting woes that often come with the territory of being in a divided family. “Oftentimes, parents in divided families have such unsettled feelings that remain towards each other, that their ability to co-parent effectively becomes tainted, which results in them subconsciously disregarding their children’s best interests, and ultimately, the children are the ones detrimentally affected.”

Grayson’s three-part book series for parents who are struggling with making the transition into a divided or blended family, or co-parenting peacefully, features a unique model of co-parenting that will dispel many of the common problems separated parents face.  “I have discovered that the most effective way to manage your divided family and keep everyone and everything running smoothly is to manage it as if you were managing a business.” Grayson notes that by learning and applying this approach, parents will communicate clearly and directly, be proactive, and minimize the problems and feelings of loss that their child may be experiencing.

In the first book of the series, “The Business of Co-Parenting for Single Moms,” Grayson addresses the most common challenges for single moms including lack of support, emotional breakdowns, anger and frustration, deadbeat dads, inconsistent visits, custody disputes, and more.   She has created what amounts to a co-parenting manual for moms, offering advice on everything from how to properly channel ill feelings and manage conflict, to how to handle the child’s father’s new significant other.

Applying her experience as a Wife, Mother, Step-Mother, she shares the practical methods her family implements in order to co-parent successfully. As a professional, her insight equips parents with many surprising, yet needed techniques to take control of their divided family so that they too may live in peace and focus on what is truly in the best interest of their child.

Grayson also established Divided/Blended Family Services, (www.divided-blendedfamilyservices.com), a unique company that provides conciliation, consulting, strategy services, and courses to parents of divided and/or blended families.
