TORONTO - Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- Two Toronto based game development teachers decide to take a shot at getting their game, Shadow Heroes: Vengeance in Flames, off the ground with Kickstarter. Justin Dooley and Alex Merza have been teaching game development to young students for the last 8 years and have been playing games ever since they can remember!

Alex grew up with an  interest in gaming and started learning development at a very early age. He often talks about the days when his father put together his first computer and indulged him into a game of "Guess my number". His appetite for gaming grew into a passion for RPG's and old adventure games. Though, no matter how much he played, one aspect of gaming always fascinated him: their creation!

Justin Dooley has had formal training in art, game design The International Academy of Design and Technology. His passion for games started at a young age when he snuck in a few games of centipede whenever he could on his mothers Atari 2600. Ever since then, Justin has been fascinated with the way videogames can draw a person in for hours and in some cases days on end. It is his firm belief that a well built game is more than just a series of objectives and obstacles. It’s a world with a past and a future. Because of this, he has dedicated himself to creating not just entertaining games, but exciting worlds that these games take place in.

Together they created Allied Games with the help of family, friends and community. Allied has been a passion of theirs since they started teaching game development and with that, they decided to take the leap into starting their own indie studio. Both quit their jobs and decided to get loans to bootstrap this vision of creating an RTS.

Alex and Justin hope that Kickstarter will be the tipping point to becoming a small gaming studio that can employ some local talent. Kickstarter has created some major buzz for indie game developers over the years and they look forward to having some great results. Kickstarter has been amazing for Canadians that took to it. However, because of the restrictions imposed by Kickstarter these entrepreneurs had to have a representative in the United States to actually receive any funds.

Canada has an excellent development community and Allied Games has designed their company policy around this. They are dedicated to creating games based on community feedback and involvement. Users can ask any question and Allied Games will provide any answers they can. Because of this transparency, users will know where their money is being spent.

Shadow Heroes: Vengeance in Flames is a real-time strategy game in which you play the commander of one of the armies of Hendrika. Your job is to protect your nation, prepare your troops and make the hard choices. In order to do it, you will be able to configure your army in the way that best fits your own play style. Shadow Heroes will offer a fully integrated single-player and multi-player experience where your choices will make a difference. Your decisions will alter the world of Hendrika and the fate of its fledgling nations. But this is not all. Allied Games wants to tailor Shadow Heroes’ development to what players see as essential in the next generation of RTS games. That’s where you come in. Support us on Kickstarter.com
