Ex 'Strictly Come Dancing' Accountant Helps Struggling Businesses Improve Their FinancesWith Dragon’s Den Star Deborah Meaden waltzing off the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ floor a few days ago, we now put the spotlight on another business person who has a passion for both the ball room and the boardroom.
His passion today however couldn’t be more different- supporting small and medium sized businesses in the South of the country to turn around their financial fortunes through improved financial management practices. Qualified many years ago with a career spanning over 20 years in some of the most ambitious companies, Chartered Management Accountant Ronny Munster has now set up his financial management business to help SMEs access specialist financial management on a cost effective basis to improve their position. Operating under the banner of EFM, Ronny’s new company now helps companies through what seems to be a tasking responsibility for many small businesses- understanding their financials and then using this information to improve their business. His focus is on restructuring and enhancing businesses, improving cashflow, forecasting for growth and success and well as helping to turn around a business in decline and building effective business plans to access funding or implement growth plans. In the current harsh economic climate, many businesses now have increased regulatory and financial liabilities and require more support from accountants and accessing a top level Finance Director has always been an expensive option to match the needs, size and aspirations of a small business. Ronny can now provide this vital finance support to small businesses at a fraction of the cost they would normally expect to pay on a flexible schedule. Ideally, Finance Director support may be required in a range of situations- whether a company is just starting up, expanding the business, trying to improve cashflow or trying to get a grip on its finances and costs or perhaps in need of a turnaround or an exit strategy. Most people would go to an optician for an eye test, take their car to a mechanic for a service or see an architect to undertake a serious building project, yet few businesses have the same uncompromising mind-set about managing their business finances, especially SMEs that are more susceptible to a harsh economic climate. By failing to apply strong financial management practices and by not bringing in the right skills and expertise to do the job properly, many small companies are risking the continued success of their business, and significantly impacting on their potential growth and profitability. Ronny understands this and his role is to help more SMEs become more profitable and successful without having to choose between employing full time skills and going without proper strategic and financial management.
