Sidewalkdog.com and Psycho Suzi’s Present K9s Gone Savage

November 14 Luau Benefits Police K9 INvest Project in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS - Nov. 6, 2013 - PRLog -- In Minneapolis, the Police Canine Unit is an integral part of the police force. Yet unlike their handlers, these highly trained dogs are put in life-threatening situations without the benefit of protective gear. Police K9 INVest Project is on a mission to provide these valued members of the force with custom-fit, bulletproof protective tactic vests, costing an average of $2,600 each.

That’s why SidewalkDog.com, the #1 Twin Cities dog-friendly resource, and Psycho Suzi’s Motor Lounge in Northeast Minneapolis have teamed up to host K9S Gone Savage: A Luau to Benefit Police K9 INvest Project.

Since 2010, seven police canine across Minnesota have been killed in the line of duty or euthanized after sustaining critical injuries. And even more dogs have sustained injuries from knife and gun wounds.

“There are currently 15 Minneapolis Police K9, and we have four covered, but 11 are unprotected. We want to change that and protect them all,” says Kim Maria Kramer, founder of Police K9 INvest Project.

“These canine officers are exposed to conditions of explosives, knife injuries, and the threat of being shot. The vests are tested for threat protection and found to be effective in defeating or minimizing injures in most cases," Kramer adds.

“As the #1 resource for dog owners in the Twin Cities, it’s important that we are making the community aware of these important issues,” says Ali Jarvis, founder of SidewalkDog.com. “We want to protect the dogs who protect us every day.”

“Psycho Suzi's and our Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood have long been a dog-loving community, and we feel that the missions of K9 INvest and SidewalkDog.com match our love of these four-legged friends,” says Emily O'Brien, Director of Hospitality, of Psycho Suzi’s.

Founded in 2008, SidewalkDog.com is the #1 resource for all things dog in the Twin Cities. From dog-friendly businesses and events to dog parks and rescues, SidewalkDog.com makes life with dogs easier with its directory, blog, newsletter, and more.
