Screenwriters of Future Movie "Altar Rock" at American Film Market in Los Angeles, Nov 6-13
Kristin Kuhns Alexandre and Wayne Carter at global motion picture conclave AFM for meetings with production/investment partners for "Altar Rock," a Nantucket-based noir thriller movie to be based on the novel of the same name that will debut in June, 2014 by Alexandre.
Founded in 1981, the American Film Market (AFM) has become the premiere global marketplace for Hollywood’s decision-makers and trendsetters who gather under one roof. Unlike a film festival, the AFM is a marketplace where production and distribution deals are closed. In just eight days, more than $800 million in deals will be sealed — on both completed films and those in every stage of development and production — making AFM the must-attend industry event.
ALTAR ROCK tells the coming-of-age story of Tillie Gardner, a bereaved Nantucket teenager who is falling apart after the shocking and sudden death of her parents in an airplane crash on the small island of Nantucket. Aunt Bess, a reformed alcoholic and Tillie's guardian, learns that the deaths were in fact murder, or possibly retribution by two terrorist brothers out to wreak havoc and avenge their father's death. One (the younger brother) befriends Tillie and is conflicted between his family and his new-found affection for the girl (our heroine).
Tillie hates airplanes; her father's airplane has made her an orphan, like the orphans on 9/11. She can still remember the chill that ran down her spine when she was seven and watched the planes crash into the World Trade Center. She saw men and women jump from the buildings' ledges. Now she stands on her own ledge, left alone to make quick, life-altering decisions.
