Rabbi Shlomo Braun of Aleh Foundation Joins Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz Borough Hal

 
Nov. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- On Wednesday evening, October 30, 2013 Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz hosted the Annual Presentation of Jewish Heritage Awards.  The first award was presented to the honorable Steve Cohn, alongtime Leader in the Democratic Party of Brooklyn and a distinguished lawyer http://www.goldbergandcohn.com/ who does many deeds for the needy as well as provides countless hours of pro-bono legal work. He is a son of a judge who was also an assemblyman.  Cohn was a Democratic state committeeman for nearly 20 years, and an executive secretary of the Kings County Democratic Party, the oldest Democratic organization in the U.S. He is also a former president of the Brooklyn Bar Association.

Rabbi Joseph Potasnik,senior rabbi at Congregation Mt. Sinai and radio show host. served as Master of Ceremonies and gave public recognition to Rabbi Shlomo Braun and thanked him for attending the event.

Judith Shapiro, co-chair, of Brooklyn Jewish Heritage Committee was awarded a proclamation from the Borough President for her outstanding volunteer work she does on behalf of Israeli and Jewish causes in the Unites States and worldwide.

The final award was presented to Sephardic Bikur Holim, and accepted by Joseph Doueck. Mr. Doueck delivered  a very impressive presentation of the wonderful work done by Sephardic Bikur Holim http://www.sbhonline.org/  in the field of employment, housing, services for the elderly and sick; family services etc.

Rabbi Shlomo Braun extended blessings to all honorees and thanked the Brooklyn Borough President for the great work he has done for the past twelve years http://www.brooklyn-usa.org/index.htm for the boro of Brooklyn that encounters the largest population of Jewish residents outside of  Israel & wished him a happy retirement.

Aleh's spacious, ultra-modern dormitories, treatment centers, special education schools and occupational training schools of Aleh house and treat hundreds of special children in four cities in Israel. Today Aleh operates a system of spacious, modern facilities throughout Israel that house and care for more than 700 children with special needs. Because of dedicated friends and supporters throughout the states Aleh Foundation was able to forward more than a quarter million dollars ($275,000) this year to Aleh's facilities in Israel.
