NEW YORK - Nov. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- (Harlem, NY) James Denmark, in association with Mackey Twins Art Gallery, Inc., will be at the world famous Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture on Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th. Mr. Denmark has the uncanny ability to capture the spirit and resiliency of African American people through his work with collage, water colors and woodcut.

“I’m delighted that Mr. Denmark decided to work with us on this rare show. We are truly in for a special treat and historical moment with him revealing new work that has never been seen before,” commented Karen Mackey, president of Mackey Twins Art Gallery.

Art Historian and Collector, Jeffrey Prince said, "His collages are vivid representations of the lives of Black folks in the Diaspora world. Bits and pieces of brightly colored paper take form under his masterful hands and eyes, shaping bits and pieces of fragmented lives into elegant narratives of the folks we are, known or might have known. The search for self is satisfied with Denmark's collages. We locate ourselves in the moments. The place and time is something lost, of coming home.  This is the power of Denmark's work - one glance and what was lost is immediately found - a whole history, where you come from, where you are and where you are going.”

What: Mackey Twins Art Gallery, Inc. presents internationally acclaimed artist, James Denmark. In this rare appearance, original work will be presented exclusively.

Who:   James Denmark has a natural affinity for the difficult and largely improvisational medium of collage and quickly developed his own unique and easily identifiable style. With brightly hand colored papers, found papers, fabric and objects, Denmark creates compositions that go beyond the superficial and transitory and focuses, instead, on what is eternal and universal. Denmark's collages, watercolors, woodcuts and reproductions are consistently and eagerly sought after by galleries and collectors worldwide. His level of acclaim is reflected in the number of prestigious collections in which his works are represented most notable that of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art.
