Follow on Google News | Eurovision star joins in on fundraiserBy: WeBuyDvds.co.uk Nicki French, who represented Great Britain in Eurovision 2000 and reached no.2 in the Billboard Hot 100, is supporting WeBuyDvds.co.uk in getting people to donate their unwanted items instead of cash. Nicki joins Gary Hollywood, who stars as “Dino” in the hit show Mrs Brown’s Boys in pledging her support to the fundraiser, which helps businesses in the North East raise money for Children In Need. People working for companies in the region will be able to donate DVDS, CDs and games, which will then be bought at a premium rate by WeBuyDvds.co.uk. All money will be donated to Children In Need, meaning people can raise money without having to spend money in this tough financial climate. People from Sunderland and Newcastle will also be given the chance to donate their DVDs, CDs and games with the help of national self-storage firm Safestore. Safestore has teamed up with WeBuyDvds.co.uk in providing 3 drop off points across the North East, meaning that the general public can drop off their unwanted DVDs, CDs and games at 1 of Safestore’s 3 drop off points to raise money for Children In Need. People from Durham can drop off their donated items at ‘Durham Self Store’, Littleburn Business Centre, Langley Moor. Nicki French, who rose to fame with her version of ‘Total eclipse of the heart’, said: “Best wishes to webuydvds.co.uk for their wonderful fundraising efforts for this year’s Children In Need appeal! As a recording artist with previous chart success, it will be one occasion where I won’t mind seeing my own CDs available for resale – as I know the money raised will be going to an extremely good cause. “So come on, everyone. Get searching in your lofts, cupboards and even the CD and DVD racks at home. Pile up all those never-listened to CDs and never-watched DVDs and support webuydvds.co.uk. Let the cds get to someone who will listen to them, then they can ‘Play That Song Again’”. Gary Hollywood, 34, who plays Agnes Brown’s son-in-law in Mrs Brown’s Boys and is currently filming the Mrs Brown’s Boys movie said: “It’s great to join up with WeBuyDvds.co.uk in raising money for Children In Need. It’s great to get involved. The concept of this campaign is excellent. “When I heard about what WeBuyDvds.co.uk was doing for Children In Need, I couldn’t help but get involved and show my support. I would urge everyone to get behind this and send in your unwanted items for this fantastic cause and help these kids have better futures.” Mrs Brown’s Boys has become a worldwide success and is shown in 7 countries, winning “Best Comedy” at the 2012 TV Choice Awards. WeBuyDvds.co.uk is a growing business and was founded in 2008, operating out of Colima Ave, Sunderland. Safestore has over 100 stores nationwide and has designated the Sunderland Store, Newcastle Wallsend Store and Newcastle Central Store to be drop off points for unwanted DVDs, CDs and games. In 2012 Children in need raised an estimated £26 million for good causes through its telethon and aims to increase that figure in 2013. All proceeds from this campaign are going to help one of Children in needs 2700 children’s projects across the UK. Children in need have helped raise over £600 million since its introduction in 1980 and has been presented by Sir Terry Wogan via the BBC each year since.
