NACD - Colorado Bolsters Board

DENVER - Nov. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- DENVER (Nov. 5, 2013) – The Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) today announced new appointments to its board of directors and advisory board.

“NACD-Colorado is the voice for our region’s corporate directors,” said Chapter Chairman Mary Beth Vitale. “Our vision is to develop the best educated directors with a focus on skills, ethics and leadership. Our new board members exemplify these qualities, and bring the right talent at the right time to move our state’s business community forward.”

Joining as new chapter directors for three-year terms are Barbara M. Baumann and Mark Jensen. Baumann is president of Cross Creek Energy, and serves on the boards of SM Energy Co.  and UniSource Energy Corp. . She is also an independent trustee of the Putnam Mutual Funds. Baumann previously served as executive VP of Associated Energy Managers following a career at BP Amoco. Baumann earned a BA from Mount Holyoke College and an MBA from the Wharton School.

Mark Jensen served as a managing partner with Deloitte LLP’s Audit & Enterprise Risk Services, Technology Industry, and U.S. Managing Partner, Venture Capital Services Group in Silicon Valley. He is now a director on the boards of Lattice Semiconductor , Unwired Planet  and ForeScout Technologies. Jensen was previously CFO for Redleaf Group and a partner with Arthur Andersen LLP in both Denver and San Jose. He received a BA, Education from Colorado State University and a BS, Accounting from Metropolitan State College. He is a senior fellow and a board member of the American Leadership Forum-Silicon Valley.

Joining NACD-Colorado’s advisory board for one-year terms are Teresa A. Taylor and J. Robert Brown Jr. Taylor is CEO of Blue Valley Advisors, and previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Qwest Communications. She is a director on the boards of T-Mobile USA , NiSource  and First Interstate Bancsystem . Taylor received a BS from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, and is author of the book, The Balance Myth – Rethinking Work/Life Success.

Professor J. Robert Brown Jr. is the Chauncey Wilson Memorial Research Chair at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law. Dr. Brown teaches corporate and securities law and has spent considerable time abroad advising governments, particularly in the former Soviet Union. He is an arbitrator for FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) and serves as the chairman of the board of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless. Brown received his BA from the College of William & Mary, his JD from the University of Maryland, and his MA and PhD, Government, from Georgetown University.
