ATLANTA - Nov. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Pursley Friese Torgrimson, the Atlanta-based law firm that represents commercial real estate and business clients in transactions and litigation, today announced that founding and managing partner Christian Torgrimson received the Honorable Debra Bernes Community Volunteer Award from the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL). U.S News and World Report also named the law firm among the nation’s “Best Law Firms” for eminent domain and condemnation law.

GAWL’s community volunteer award, The Honorable Debra Bernes Community Volunteer Award, recognizes a GAWL member with a history of exceptional service to the community through pro bono work and community involvement. Award recipients also personify the GAWL Foundation’s mission of encouraging philanthropy of women lawyers in Georgia for the benefit of the greater community and the passion that Judge Bernes had for a better community

When Christian joined GAWL 14 years ago, she served on the legislative committee, then chair of the Community Service committee on the GAWL Board. During her tenure with the Community Service committee, Christian teamed with then GAWL President Rebecca Godbey Cummings to chart a new course for GAWL’s ongoing community service outreach and activities. Their collaboration soon lead to the formation of a distinct 501(c)(3) entity in 2003 solely dedicated to nurturing GAWL’s community outreach efforts to support women and children in Georgia. The effort led to the formation of the GAWL Foundation.

After helping to found the GAWL Foundation, Christian went on to serve two years as the GAWL Foundation’s founding president. In all, she served more than 10 years as a member of GAWL’s executive board, including as the president of GAWL from 2008 to 2009. As a member of GAWL, Christian has actively lead training and development for young women lawyers interested in successfully launching new legal practices. She also dedicates time to strengthening networking and business development among GAWL members.

Christian, a past recipient of the State Bar of Georgia’s Chief Justice Robert Benham Community Service Award, focuses her legal practice on eminent domain and real estate litigation. The practice recently earned the designation of “Best Law Firms” by U.S. News and World Report.
