Start-up photography entrepreneur shortlisted in contest telling a day in the life of Bristol

The co-founder of a small business that’s only four months old has been shortlisted in a competition that captures 24 hours in the life of a city.

BRISTOL, U.K. - Nov. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Virginia Allwood, who set up Bristol-based online photography store http://www.leshopuk.com with Dan Martin in July, took part in 24 Hours in Bristol on 19 October which saw more than 150 photographers capturing images throughout the day.

Almost 1,000 photographs were submitted and 72 were chosen to feature in a unique public exhibition which will open at The Guildhall Arts Centre in Bristol on 16 November.

Allwood’s ‘Rainbow Over Coloured Houses’ was selected as one of the 72 by a panel of judges including Michael Pritchard, director-general of the Royal Photographic Society, the world’s oldest photographic society and Andrew Sydenham from Amateur Photography Magazine, first published in 1884.

All the photos will be displayed in the exhibition and the top three will receive cash prizes including £3,000 for the overall winner.

Commenting on her shortlisting, Allwood says: “We spent 15 hours on the streets of Bristol as part of the competition but it was absolutely worth it!

“Being shortlisted for such a high profile competition at such an early point in the life of our business is wonderful and a great validation of our work.

“We can’t wait to see my photograph on display alongside all the other amazing images.”
