Sai Retina Foundation To Observe World Diabetes Day

LETS WALK TOGETHER FOR DIABETES. World Diabetes Day observed globally on 14th of November will also be organized here at our centre. The program for the day has been set so as to make a complete and holistic approach to the problem.

DELHI/NCR, India - Oct. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- DIABETES is said to be a silent invader. Seemingly an ordinary problem this may lead to grave consequences if not arrested early. There are now 61 million Diabetics in India which gives us the dubious distinction of being the Diabetes Capital of the World. It is expected to reach 70 million by 2020 (as reported by the WHO). This has reached such an epidemic status that it becomes a matter of prime concern for us. Diabetes affects the eye and other major organs as well, if not detected and treated in time.

SAI RETINA FOUNDATION (SRF) came into existence in September 2008, when Dr. Jayant Guha felt there was a need of a dedicated centre to tackle retinal disorders. Now we have a Complete Eye Care centre at F-5, Dilshad Colony Main Road, Delhi – 110095 having two floors with all modern facilities for high tech eye care and with a team of eminent super specialists. Sai Retina Foundation also commissioned a community based eye care project in collaboration with several NGO's in which there will be a Mobile Retina Van that will arrive at the pre-determined site and screen around 350-400 people in each camp for diabetes and other eye related problems free of cost. Our main aim for running this project is to create awareness in the community about Diabetes and the related co-morbidities and to treat those affected with Diabetic Retinopathy and other eye related problems at our Centre.

World Diabetes Day observed globally on 14th of November will also be organized here at our centre. The program for the day has been set so as to make a complete and holistic approach to the problem. The mobile van will be parked outside the centre where screening for diabetics is to start from 9 a.m. following which a thorough eye check-up will be done of all patients waiting. After screening, Dr. Rajeev Lochan, Diabetics educator, will counsel the patients who have been detected with Diabetes or those who already have a history of diabetes. Educative posters will be distributed to all at the time of registration for screening.

Another important highlight of the program would be the DIABETES WALK, in collaboration with Rotary Zone 10 (R.I. Dist. 2010). This will commence at 10.30 a.m. and will cover the area for about 90 minutes with banner, hoardings and mike. The Press and all dignitaries including Veer Singh Dhingan, (MLA Seemapuri), Ram Narayan Dubey, Mayor East Delhi are expected to arrive by 10.00 a.m. The day’s activities to close with Lunch.
