Excitement is building at the School as the list of stars backing the campaign grows. Well-known names now include Joanna Lumley & her husband Stephen Barlow, Amanda Redman, Danny Baker, Sally Hawkins, Charlotte Ritchie, Angela Gheorghiu…

Nicky Campbell:

“Music is intrinsic to my life. I began my career as a jingle writer for Northsound Radio in Aberdeen and have been making music ever since. I also play the piano, guitar and ukulele. In 2009 I wrote and produced a successful jazz swing album called Moonlight’s Back In Style for singer and actor Mark Moraghan. It’s been incredible to have all these opportunities. Music is magical, life changing, it’s the most effective form of therapy too. It’s fantastic that the Community Music Centre at JAGS will introduce people of all ages to music, and provide the most extraordinary facilities for others to improve and experiment.”

The Community Music Centre@jags will be completed in 2017, by which point £17 million will need to have been raised. The CMC@jags will provide much needed musical resources for the area, and will be used by the community 60% of the time. There will be a 400 seat concert hall, a 100 seat recital hall, 26 practice rooms, 3 music technology rooms, a listening room, and music therapy room. The Centre will be home to community choirs, orchestras, & musical groups of all styles. It will provide the highest standards of accessibility so thatthose of all physical & mental abilities can access the Centre.
