HIGH RIVER, Alberta - Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- HIGH RIVER, Alberta -- For far too many, the summer of 2013 was one of devastation, personal loss and unprecendented  turmoil. As one of the worst affected by the flood and with many still returning to their homes, High River will still host their first PBR event at the High River Rodeo Grounds Indoor Arena on November 23 at 7pm.

“We were careful to avoid the word cancelled all summer as we truly wanted to build an event that the community that suffered, as well as stood together, could rally around. We were adamant that it was postponed from the second the grounds were commandeered, the High River Agriculture Society has played a massive role in getting folks the help they require, and this is them giving just a little bit more,” said stock contractor and producer Nate Gardner.

As one of the first events to be held since the flood, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser. Cowboys will vie for $10,000 in added prize money and a buckle. The high point earner between the Glenn Keeley Memorial Bull Riding, Coronation Royal Rumbull and the High River PBR will receive also receive a saddle to be awarded the night of November 23.

“This is a local fundraiser, for the High River area. The proceeds are going right back to local relief efforts. There are a great number of people that still require a ton of help, we are putting cash in the hands of local relief experts who are dolling it out to the people in need, be it through the Red Cross, Samaritans Purse, or even at a more grass roots level,” relayed High River Agriculture Society President, Wade Nelson.

Tickets are available for purchase on http://www.hragsociety.ca/ and are expected to sell out quickly.

“We have no doubt we will be sold out early. With everything this part of the world has endured taken into account, it’s a wonder there is as much normalcy as there is. We have to work twice as hard as we normally would to get this together, but it’s the right thing to do,” said Nate Gardner.

The event would not be taking place if it weren’t for the community and individuals within the rodeo industry.

Stock for the event will be provided by Vold Rodeo, Two Bit Bucking Bulls, Rafter G Cattle Co., Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls, and Sawyer Bucking Bulls.
