e-Marketing Recommendation Patent to be Sold at ICAP November 2013 Sealed Bid IP AuctionThis patent portfolio enables e-Marketing Businesses to access up to 100x more online product reviews enabling richer and more productive recommendations for online shoppers, as well as earlier suggestions after a new product is introduced.
Viewers shopping online are frequently offered additional items that relate to items they are viewing. Common forms of this include: "People who like this also liked..." For existing e-Marketing websites, the reviews for products offered in this way are harvested only from the website making the offer. At the same time, there are much greater numbers of reviews for the same product and other products on other websites. To correlate these reviews requires the missing link covered by the claims in US Pat No 8,429,160. Reviews can be correlated across many websites if you could just tell that the same person wrote specific reviews on multiple sites. Thus, the invention does two things: (1) The invention harvests reviews from multiple sites based on the initial assumption that a person typically uses the same username on multiple websites. ...then to ensure accuracy: (2) The invention determines when multiple people are using the same username, and properly handles this exception. Entitled "User Preference Correlation for Web-based Selection," US Patent Application No 12/903,062 was filed on Oct. 12, 2010 and issued as US Pat No 8,429,160. CIP Application No 13/829,303 was filed on March 14, 2013 and besides broadening the claims issued in Pat No 8,429,160, adds description and claims for correlation using weighted preferences including mixes of positive and negative preferences. This User-Preference Correlation IP lot may be of interest to all e-Marketing companies that make recommendations to customers - including conventional online retailers as well as companies that do referral selling (sometimes called Comparison Shopping Engines or CSEs) - and that suggest products, services, or media that happen to be offered on multiple unrelated websites. In particular, companies like the following - to name only a few - may find the functionality in this lot especially interesting: To learn more about the assets available for sale in this portfolio or to place a bid: Contact Paul Greco of ICAP Patent Brokerage at (212) 815-6692 or via email at Paul.Greco@us.icap.com. # # # About Osann IP Consulting: Robert Osann is an Intellectual Property consultant, inventor, and veteran of 5 VC-backed startups.
