JumpSpark Creative Group Creates Historical Attraction in Jim Thorpe

JumpSpark Creative Group of northeastern pa designs visual, historical attraction for downtown Jim Thorpe, PA and enables residents and visitors to step back in time.

POCONOS, Pa. - Oct. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- Albrightsville, PA - There is a new historical attraction at the former Lehigh Coal/Navigation Building on Susquehanna Street and Broadway in Jim Thorpe, PA that enables residents and visitors to “step back in time” when Jim Thorpe was known as Mauch Chunk and people, streetscapes and buildings appeared a bit different than today.

Albrightsville, PA graphic design and marketing company, JumpSpark Creative Group, was approached by Jim Thorpe Borough President, Betsy Arner, and Harry Packer Mansion co-owner, Patricia Handwerk, and commissioned by Pennrose Management to create and produce a new, visual attraction composed of two large banners spanning a total of 118ft. wide x  6 ft. high, with a composition entitled: “Mauch Chunk at the Turn of the Century: A Historical Retrospective.”  This antiqued-looking banner displays sepia-tone images of people, places and streetscapes in downtown Mauch Chunk during the late 1890’s and early 1900’s along with their locations.

Jim Thorpe is known for its Victorian charm and diverse history, so Betsy Arner, Jim Thorpe Borough Council President, Jim Thorpe Borough Council and Patricia Handwerk, co-owner of the Harry Packer Mansion, thought that it would be interesting and fun to enable Jim Thorpe residents and visitors to take a step back in time and appreciate what came before and compare it to what is now in Jim Thorpe. John Drury, founder and manager of The Mauch Chunk Museum & Cultural Center supplied the historical photos for the project.

Dina Tulli Davis, President of JumpSpark Creative Group and designer of the banners, shares, “It was truly an honor to be a part of this wonderful project, which will allow Jim Thorpe residents and visitors honor and remember this amazing town’s history. I had greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn more about Jim Thorpe’s past as well as to work with a terrific group of people. And, I think it is so gratifying to see so many people enjoy it.”

The banners were installed at the end of September and have been quite the attraction as people walking up and down Susquehanna Street and Broadway stop to pose for pictures in front of them and also gather to compare the vintage photos with our modern day streetscapes.
