BEDFORD, U.K. - Oct. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Bromham, Bedfordshire: Greyhart Press, a publisher of science fiction, fantasy, and thriller books, announces its latest book release is ‘Restless Souls: 3 dark fables by Thomas Rydder, a collection of short supernatural thrillers featuring the lost souls of America.

The author explained his inspiration to write dark tales began early: “I was born in 1957 in a small town in Western Pennsylvania that had — and still has — one traffic light. There wasn’t a whole lot to do there, and we had few neighbors, so I learned to play quite a bit of make-believe – soldiers, cowboys and Indians, that kind of thing. At the same time, I loved to read and watch old movies. On Saturdays, my dad played in a country western band, and I stayed up to wait for him. It was during that stretch that I discovered the horror movie. You know the ones I mean. Karloff, Chaney, Lee. The masters, right?”

The mini-collection reflects the reading public’s growing love of mid-length stories, featuring a short story, a novelette, and a novella.

Commenting on the release, Greyhart Press publisher Tim C. Taylor said: “If you go back 100 years, novellas were more popular than novels. Their popularity was killed off by printing and shipping costs, but they are making a strong comeback thanks to the rise of eBooks. Hugh Howey’s success with his ‘Wool’ series of novellas is just one recent example. In ‘Restless Souls’, Thomas Rydder exploits the potential of mid-length stories to the max. He has space to develop the setting – the dark corners of America most people don’t want to acknowledge, and the unwanted souls who dwell there. And the plots keep twisting too; there’s danger around every corner in Rydder’s writing.”

‘Restless Souls: 3 dark fables’, a mini-collection of supernatural thrillers that will be enjoyed by fans of Dean Koontz and Stephen King, is published October 18th 2013 in paperback (ISBN  978-1-909636-04-0: $7.99 ) from amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Restless-Souls-3-dark-fables/dp/190...) and as a Kindle eBook from amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/Restless-Souls-dark-fables-ebook/dp...) ($0.99) and Amazon stores worldwide. An ePUB ebook is available from Smashwords.com (ISBN 9781301488315).

Rydder’s book is dedicated to the memory of those who have fallen victim to cancer. The author is donating 25% of his royalties to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. http://www.stjude.org

Over the launch period, the eBook editions of Rydder’s supernatural thriller novel ‘The Clearing’ will be available for 99cents in a ‘two books for two bucks’ deal.

About Thomas Rydder:
Rydder was born in 1957 in a small town in Western Pennsylvania that had — and still has — one traffic light. There wasn’t a whole lot to do there, and he had few neighbors, so he learned to play quite a bit of make-believe — soldiers, cowboys and Indians, that kind of thing.

Fast forward 40 years and he’s the project manager for a small civil engineering firm in picturesque Charleston, South Carolina with his wife and four rescue pets (two dogs, two cats) — and eight feral cats outside that put up with him because he gives them two squares a day.

He’s never stopped creating, and ‘Restles Souls: 3 dark fables’ is the result.
