COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Oct. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Thanks in part to a $50,000 gift from “The 24th Fund” of the Bessemer Trust recently made to Wild Blue Animal Rescue & Sanctuary, a local nonprofit animal rescue, the Black Forest Veterinary Clinic will officially reopen this weekend.

The reopening celebration will take place from 12-4pm and be held at their new facility located at 12655 Black Forest Road, Suite 118, directly across from their former location which burned to the ground during the devastating Black Forest fire this past June. There will be tours, food and beverages and free giveaways. Community neighbors and friends are welcome.

The Bessemer Trust is a privately-owned wealth management and investment advisory firm that focuses exclusively on high-net worth families and their foundations and endowments. Black Forest Veterinary Clinic's new, state of the art surgical suite is made possible by a generous gift from the cat lovers of “The 24th Fund”, in memory of their special feline companion, Gee.

“The anonymous donors reached out to Wild Blue following the disastrous fire to see how they could help the animals of our community and their human
Much loved cat, Gee guardians,” said Lauri Cross, Executive Director of Wild Blue. ”When I told them that our community’s vet clinic had burnt to the ground, they immediately stepped in.”

“Once the donation became a reality, Wild Blue and the Black Forest Veterinary Clinic collaborated closely to bring a pet surgery capability back to our beloved forest,” she continued.

“We are very happy to be able to further our partnership with Dr. Mohr and his incredibly talented staff to ensure the health and wellness of the rescued animals we serve.”

According to a letter from “The 24th Fund” donors - “Gee, (pronounced Geeee as in the French pronunciation of Guy, not as in Gee-Wiz), was 6 months old when we adopted him from our local SPCA, where he picked us. He had a great life as you can see (in the photo above), spending his "lavender" years on our deck before he passed on in March of 2011, mostly due to his age, and his poor old body wearing out.”

The letter goes on the share that “Gee became part of our lives together from the beginning of our relationship in 1992. He was a large boy, once weighing in around 18 pounds. A very loving cat, the patriarch in a household, at one time, of seven feline friends. He loved to wrestle with his buddy Scooter especially around "cat nip time", and sleep on our bed usually underneath the covers.  So one would either look for him there or on a warm sunny spot and you would find Gee.  He will always be remembered in our hearts and never replaced.”

A special plaque commemorating Gee and the donation from “The 24th Fund” will be presented by Wild Blue to Dr. Mohr and the clinic during the festivities on Saturday. Since its launch in 2010, Wild Blue has saved the lives of over 450 animals with animal rescues and adoptions spreading to as far away as Nebraska, Texas, New Jersey and North Carolina.
