Apprentices Celebrate Electrical Success

GLOUCESTER, U.K. - Oct. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Special guest Ron Atkinson presented eighteen young people with certificates in front of their proud families at the Hatherley Manor Hotel in Gloucester.  The event, hosted by employer Clarkson Evans saw guests travel from as far as Devon, South Wales, Sussex and the West Midlands.

Former premiership football manager ‘Big Ron’ offered advice and guidance in his motivational speech where he acknowledged their journey from apprentice to electrician: “You’ve all done well to get where you are today, but the real challenge starts now with how you build on this opportunity and progress throughout your career”.

Clarkson Evans Managing Director Steve Evans is proud of the company’s track record of training young people.  He says, “We don’t see ourselves as just teaching apprentices a trade.  To us, it’s much more than that – we give them the opportunity to make something of their lives”.

Involving the electricians’ families in the celebrations is an important part of the event.  Roger Hopkins, father of electrician Jack Hopkins attended the event and commented, “We really appreciated the kind, researched and frank comments about the 18 young men and it was clear and obvious to me that Steve Evans has personally followed the individual career paths of the students”.

The Staverton-based company specialises in wiring new homes and this year it has recruited over 100 new apprentices.  All of them follow a unique in-house programme, attending day release classes at the company’s own training centre. It’s not just Clarkson Evans’ own staff who benefit from their training - the company now trains apprentices for around 30 other employers.
