Modine Europe GmbH Wins West Trax Quality Award Again

ROSS ON WYE, U.K. - Oct. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Modine Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of the world’s leading company for heating and cooling technologies and solutions, is always looking for added value from its SAP System. In 2006, West Trax analysed the Modine SAP System using its KPI Scan^® technology and recognised the company’s outstanding quality of usage with a Silver Quality Award. Since then, Modine has implemented several SAP rollouts in Europe, China and India.

Modine recently repeated the KPI Scan^® and the results show that it is still one of the best companies across all market sectors for exploiting the potential of the SAP functionality currently in its system. “The results of this analysis are a very important factor for us in the evaluation of our SAP infrastructure. The KPI’s measured are very helpful metrics which help provide an overall objective view of the SAP system and the quality of usage,” says Kurt Trillsam, IT Director for Modine Europe.

West Trax offers complete business focused analyses of SAP systems. With minimal effort for clients, West Trax performs an “As-Is” analysis based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), covering Cost, Productivity, Performance and Quality. The automated analysis is performed off-line. It identifies the potential to implement system functionality that is already licensed and paid for but is not used. The analysis of Modine’s SAP system showed that the level of standardisation at 81.9% is better than the average for all industries and is very close to the best result in the automotive industry which is currently 83.6%. The degree of standardisation KPI demonstrates the percentage of standard functionality used within the system. The higher this KPI the greater benefits clients achieve from standard SAP software – conversely, a low result may indicate a poor return on investment.

In many organisations systems have excessive levels of customisation. This results in a loss of system transparency and increased operational costs. A lack of essential facts impedes decision making when seeking to increase the return on investment.

The results achieved by Modine demonstrate that, even with the challenges of international rollouts and usage, the company has maintained its focus on continuously adding value. “In addition, for many years Modine has recorded the best value for our Custom Code Performance KPI and this position has been confirmed again in 2013,” said Diana Bohr, West Trax CTO.

It takes about thirty minutes for a client to collect the data required for a West Trax analysis. The resulting KPI’s focus on the level ofstandardisation, unused standard potential, custom code usage and frequency of custom code use. All results are compared with the West Trax benchmark database. When the results exceed specific benchmarking criteria the client receives the West Trax Quality Award. The results of a KPI Scan^® provide important facts and information that enable management to make decisions in a very short timeframe, avoiding lengthy and resource intensive investigations.

Conversely, time consuming interfaces for non-SAP functionality or workarounds will increase process and maintenance costs, extend response times, reduce efficiency of processes and impact overall quality.
