NEW YORK - Oct. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Growing up in a theatrical family in Los Angeles and having gone on dozens of Universal Studios tours, Jesse Kove dreamed of one day shooting his own projects on the Universal backlot. After taking up a Summer Director’s Program at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles (, Jesse had the opportunity to do just that. “Actually being able to shoot your own film on the backlot – learn the camera and practice your craft – is nothing short of a dream,” says Jesse. “Stepping where the greats once did, and still do, it’s a beautiful thing.”

Now, Jesse is acting and producing in the film, Mischief Night (, which will have its World Premiere in the Hollywood Film Festival at the Archlight Cinemas. The film revolves around a troubled 17 year-old, Sean Holloway, who falls in with a group of teenage outcasts called ‘The Misfits.” On the eve of Halloween, “Mischief Night,” Sean finds himself deeply in over his head when their plans culminate into a night of revenge and violence. The film deals with teen pressure, high school bullying, and the iconic nature of revenge and retaliation. Mischief Night is currently being courted by distributors and should gain momentum after its premiere at Archlight. “Being a word of mouth film, our intention is to role it out slowly in 2014 and eventually release it in a boatload of theaters for everyone to see.”

While enrolled in New York Film Academy’s Los Angeles campus, Jesse learned the technical mechanics of shooting on both film and digital, and the importance of lighting. “Knowing that Steven Spielberg might bump into you, while you’re getting your morning coffee before class, is pretty special. Also, the students at NYFA are so talented. It’s humbling to be surrounded by people who love making movies. The friends you make at NYFA will become your mates for life. You form a team with them, and they will go through anything with you to make sure you tell your story. I still stay in touch with some of the friends I made at NYFA and I cherish that.”

Jesse intends to continue pursuing acting and producing, with the goal of someday wearing the director’s hat. Director of Mischief Night and producing partner, Richard Zelniker, has a number of scripts production ready. One is a psychological, sexy thriller, the other is a character-driven, female ensemble drama. Jesse hopes to be in production on one of the two by January.
