Nominate a Youth Volunteer Hero Today!

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Oct. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- 2014 American Red Cross Youth Hero Nominations “Volunteers in their Youngers Years”

Savannah GA, Monday, October 14, 2013- The Southeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross has been heeding the call for assistance for almost 96 years in Savannah.  The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Please join the American Red Cross in recognizing 6^th – 12^th graders who respond to challenges every day in their community and rise above those challenges by becoming volunteers who are strengthening the world for future generations. Youth volunteers can be nominated by any group, church, school, organization, individual or business.  Nominees must have at least 20 volunteer hours in 2013.  Additional nomination details are covered on the nomination form.

Through the nomination process, we would like to identify and recognize youth heroes within Southeast Georgia and the Low Country, who have honorably chosen to give back to their community through volunteering.

A study of youth development indicates that youth volunteers are twice as likely to get better grades in school, 25% more likely to positively contribute to their family and community and twice as likely to continue their volunteer efforts as adults. Through volunteer initiatives, youth adopt mentors who lead by example, serve as a source of guidance and inspire young adults to achieve their goals with confidence

Winners will be notified in February and will be honored at one of two Youth Heroes Breakfast in Statesboro and Savannah, GA in March and April.
