| ![]() Emerald Ash Borer Hits Denver, Treatments AvailablePrevent Emerald Ash Borer From Destroying Your Trees! Invasive Insect responsible for the death of Tens of Millions of Ash Trees in almost Two Dozen States
By: American Tree Emerald Ash Borer was first identified in the U.S. in 2002 in southeastern Michigan and has now spread throughout the midwest killing hundreds of millions of ash trees in urban, rural and forested settings. American Tree is now taking both preventive and treatment measures to combat EAB with both soil and systemic injections. Controlling insects such as EAB that feed under the bark is difficult, however, American Tree uses several insecticide options that have proven effective in protecting and treating ash trees against Emerald Ash Borer. The treatments used to control this insect act systemically. What this means is the chemical must enter the water-filled vascular system of the tree and be moved out into the branches where the insect larvae feed. Trees that are in poor condition or are already heavily infested with EAB will not move the insecticide throughout the canopy, rendering the treatment ineffective. It is best to begin treating ash trees when they are relatively healthy therefore, even when your tree appears to be healthy its a good candidate. On the flip-side if an ash tree has lost more than 50 percent of its canopy, it is probably too late to for American Tree to treat and save it. Treatment of a healthy tree may be worthwhile if there are confirmed EAB populations within 10 to 15 miles of your garden. Most trees die within 2 to 4 years of becoming infected. American Tree is a family-owned and operated business specializing in the care and maintenance of Trees and Shrubs and is poised and positioned to help treat any and all trees throughout the Denver Metro area.
