Follow on Google News | Santa's Sugar Wins Silver and Five Star Awards from Reader's Favorite Awards 2013Since its release in 2012, Santa's Sugar has won an additional 9 awards: Mom's Choice, Royal Dragonfly, Reader Views, Feathered Quill, KART Kids Book List, International Book Awards, National Indie Excellence, and 2 Purple Dragonfly Awards.
Santa's Sugar has universal themes that will appeal to children as well as to adults, supported by charming illustations by Michael Patch. Kindness, friendship, understanding, and a desire to fit in are never out-of-date. The reader can readily identify with the main character, Nugget, a little elf in Santa's workshop who cannot find his place and purpose. After being less than successful making toys and working in other departments, Nugget feels he is not a true elf. Fortunately, Santa is in need of an elf to care for his beloved cat, Sugar, and after careful thought, chooses Nugget. All goes well until Christmas Eve when Nugget can't find Sugar. Luckily, Nugget discovers a friend who remembers his kindness. The story ends happily when Nugget learns that listening to his heart and doing the rignt thing are good ways to live. Reviewers have commented: "Santa’s Sugar is a delightful little book that would be perfect under any Christmas tree, yet teaches life-long lessons too." "Michael Patch created awesomely wonderful illustrations on every page that makes the story come alive before your eyes." "The ending has an interesting surprise and leaves readers with a wish for more Nugget stories!" "Jane Gerencher has created a story to be passed down from generation to generation."
