SEM Link, Oakland Public Library and The ISIS Project host Science Fiction Film Festival

OAKLAND, Calif. - Oct. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- On this Saturday, October 12, 2013 Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc.(SEM Link) through its Math and Science Career Academy is partnering with the  African American Museum and Library at Oakland and The I.S.I.S. Project to host a Science Fiction Film Festival. The festival will take place at the library located at 659 14th  Street in Oakland and will start promptly at 2pm. The event will include a conversation about STEM careers found in science fiction and a conversation with science fiction author Thaddeus Howze. The feature film for the festival is After Earth featuring Will and Jaden Smith. “People don’t realize how much science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can be found in books, movies and television” said Ms. Tokiwa T. Smith, Founder and Executive Director of SEM Link. “ I am excited to host this event where we can show them this connection and enjoy a family friendly science fiction film”. The event sponsors are National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Summer of Innovation (SOI) Program, Clorox and Eiram Creative.
