Follow on Google News | New York City Acting School for Film and Television Announces New Classes for FallRanked by CBS as one of the top NYC acting schools, The New York Acting School for Film and Television has added several new classes and instructors to the Fall 2013 offering, including a class in how to get acting jobs: "The Business of Acting."
This acting school was named by CBS as one of the top acting class schools in NYC. The classes teach acting for camera - film and television - all classes are on camera and you review your work at the end of each class on a TV monitor. The classes are intimate, 6-12 people, so if there is anything in particular that you want to work on, instructors can give you personal help. All levels accepted. According to founder and director, Mark Stolzenberg, "You will work on Eye Line (where to look), how to project your voice, emotions, and physicality. I stress believability and vulnerability and have many tricks of the trade to share. I spend time working on close-ups. We do monologues, improvisations, cold readings, audition technique, commercials, and some scene work-most of the material is from movies. I teach "acting technique" with an eclectic approach. All the work is geared to making you look most effective on screen." The program is set up so that after two terms of Essentials or beginning classes, you will be eligible to enroll in the Advanced class and to have your work screened in a theatre for casting directors, agents, managers, etc. This fall Stolzenberg reports that three new classes have been added. One explores "The Business of Acting." Stolzenberg explain it this way: "As with any career, there is the skill or talent part and that is different than the business part. You can have mountains of skill or talent, but if you show up late for an audition or don't have the right head shot, your career may never take off. This class is designed to help you with all the business parts." Another new class explores the entire world of televison news broadcasting and hosting. Local news host, Oriana Dagostinio, is the instructor for this class. News reporting or anchoring requires acting skills. In particular, you must know how to work in front of a camera. A third new class is all about the kids. Noted kids acting teacher and producer, Scarlett Antonia, will create an opportunity for kids to experience the basic acting techniques used in drama , comedy, and musical theater for stage and film. Any actor, whether aspiring or already working professionally can speak with Mark Stolzenberg about which courses might be most suited to them by calling (212) 877-2219 and asking for Mark. End
