WHY:          On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce (NVBCC), Asian-American Chamber of Commerce, and Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) pledging to collaborate and implement programs that will establish a greater framework of support and opportunities for all minority-owned businesses in the Commonwealth.  The signing took place at the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority.

“This agreement is another step in the significant effort underway to engage with our colleagues and build cross-cultural relationships critical to the sustainability of all minority-owned businesses located in the Commonwealth,” says Gregory Woodyard, vice chairman of NVBCC and interim director of supplier diversity for the Commonwealth of Virginia.  “NVBCC has worked closely with these groups on many issues and this MOU is another milestone reflective of our productive working relationship.”

This historic MOU promises to change the paradigm for how minority businesses engage and interact with one another. The Candidates Forum is the first collaboration in the partnership, with all six of the statewide candidates to meeting leaders from these minority business communities.
