Brides Finding New Wedding Venues Due To Government Shutdown

Due to the government shutdown, many brides in the DC area are in need of wedding venues because their ceremonies or receptions were booked at government buildings or parks. Private venues like Historic Rosemont provide an attractive new alternative.

BERRYVILLE, Va. - Oct. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Many engaged couples in the greater DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland area are finding themselves without a wedding venue due to the recent government shutdown.  Many government buildings such as monuments and museums, as well as national parks, are now closed due to staffing and facility management affected by the shutdown.  Couples who originally chose such sites as the Jefferson Memorial, the National Mall, and other government-run facilities in the greater DC area are now scrambling to make alternative plans for their ceremony and/or reception.

In the wake of the venue shake-up, couples are finding the solution to their dilemma in private, historical venues in the greater Northern Virginia area.  One such venue is Historic Rosemont Manor, located about an hour west of DC in Berryville, Virginia.

"We are starting to see inquiries from displaced brides whose venues are now in jeopardy due to the shutdown," said Suzanne Pearson, Director of Communications at Historic Rosemont. "These couples originally chose  a government facility for their venue because they wanted a historic site with classic architecture and a combination of indoor and outdoor event space.  Fortunately, we are able to offer couples all of those features here at Rosemont."

For couples who need overnight accommodations for their wedding party and guests, Rosemont is also able to house just over 75 people overnight on the estate grounds.  This is particularly helpful for weddings being transitioned from a venue within DC to a private venue outside of the beltway.

"Couples who lost their DC venue often have the added burden of determining where their folks can stay, since the wedding will now take place in a different location.  We are able to have these groups come and stay on the Rosemont grounds overnight or for a full weekend," said Rosemont owner William Genda.

Also in Rosemont's favor are their full-service wedding amenity offerings and their experience in producing weddings in short periods of time.  Historic Rosemont offers a number of on-site wedding services such as wedding coordination and design, tuxedo rentals, catering, and salon services.  Having a number of wedding amenities built-in can make the transition for displaced couples much smoother.

"In any case, whether the bride has had a previous venue or not, we try to make things as simple and stress-free as possible," said Pearson. "We can offer them a variety of services, and we have hosted many beautiful weddings where the time frame from booking to wedding was just a few weeks.  This scenario is not new to us."
