Hotwire Communications Launches the First Gigabit Speed, “Fiberhood” in Georgia

Oct. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Bala Cynwyd, Penn.  (October 4, 2013) – Hotwire Communications, a leading provider of fiber optic telecommunications services, unveiled plans for an ultra-high-speed fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) broadband network launching in October 2014 at Avalon, a  resort-inspired mixed-use development in Alpharetta, Ga., a northern suburb of Atlanta. The 2.4 million square foot project, valued at over $600 million upon completion, is being developed by North American Properties.

As the first to bring fiber optic technology with Gigabit Internet to Georgia, Hotwire is building a custom, FTTP network throughout the community to deliver its state-of-the-art Fision service.  Hotwire will provide 1 gigabit (Gbps) speeds to every single resident, hotel guest, office worker, retail shop and restaurant at Avalon.

Fiber connection speeds are unmatched by other providers using obsolete copper technology.  Residents, businesses and guests of Avalon will experience internet speeds 100 times faster than the U.S. average for basic broadband speeds leading the community to become known as the “fiberhood.”

The benefits of living and working in a fiberhood are seemingly endless:  crystal clear HDTV, instant streaming of HD video without buffering, uploading and downloading large files and working in the "cloud".  Unsurpassed Internet connection speeds will make Avalon a technology and innovation destination, affording businesses the opportunity to "future-proof" their operations.  A demonstration of Hotwire's Avalon network can be viewed at http://www.naproperties.com/avalon-internet/ .

It has been proven that property values in fiber powered homes are higher compared to developments that lack advanced fiber utilities. FTTP is also seen as a prime new housing amenity.  This can be attributed to the fact that fiber networks enable watching TV online without buffering; instant downloads of movies and music, crystal clear high definition TV, and un-precedented Wi-Fi speeds for seamless connectivity.

“We are excited about the limitless possibilities our future-proof network can bring to Avalon” said Kristin Johnson, president of Hotwire Communications.  She added, “We will provide our customers with the most advanced technology available today and a level of customer service that will surpass anything anyone has ever experienced in the Atlanta market.”

Hotwire is certainly helping Avalon become future-proof.  Fiber technology is not only the vehicle to faster Internet speeds, but it is now cost-effective and provides nearly unlimited bandwidth.  Fiber technology has the ability to satisfy future consumer and business demands for voice, data and video capabilities well into the coming decades.

Avalon is a community that requires the next generation in telecommunications.  Phase I of the mixed-use development, opening in October 2014, will be comprised of 250 luxury rental homes, 101 single-family homes, 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurants and 108,000 square feet of loft office space. Phase II calls for a boutique hotel over retail, a full-service hotel, 100,000 square feet of additional retail and more than 600,000 square feet of additional office space.

“Alpharetta is home to more than 600 tech firms and is known as the Technology City of the South,” said Mark Toro, managing partner of North American Properties. “There couldn’t be a more fitting place to be home to Georgia’s first ‘fiberhood.’

Construction is underway at Avalon and Avalon will begin welcoming businesses and residents to the “fiberhood” in October, 2014.
