Coeliacs in Ireland Get Their First Guide to Eating Out

Gluten Free Ireland, a pioneer website for people with Coeliac disease in Ireland has just published their first book, the Gluten Free Ireland Eating Out Guide 2013.

BALLYNAHINCH, Ireland - Oct. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- With over nine hundred venues listed, it is the most comprehensive printed guide to accommodation, restaurants, activities and travel available to people on a gluten free diet and the first of its kind for Ireland.

From Internet to Print

Michael Thompson, Marketing Director: “With the success of our website now reaching over 15,000 users every month, it was a big decision to print the book as everyone can access the website for free and our mobile site is designed specifically for people travelling, but we decided that a printed version of the book would make it even more convenient for tourists and locals if they had a hard copy that was easy to carry around, especially in the more rural areas.”

The book is set to be republished each year with additional information on where to eat out gluten free, including user reviews, submitted via the Gluten Free Ireland website.

The Gluten Free Ireland Eating Out Guide 2013 is available at www.glutenfreeireland.com, Amazon and on Kindle.

Coeliac Disease in Ireland

With Coeliac disease affecting one out of every hundred people in Ireland, the need for gluten free options in catering venues is paramount. Finding those venues and getting peace of mind can mean the difference between enjoying a night out and simply not leaving the house in fear of debilitating reactions to gluten intolerance.

While the after effects for people diagnosed with Coeliac diseases eating food containing gluten varies from a painful rash to full blown sickness and joint pain, many people not diagnosed with Coeliac disease choose to lead a gluten free lifestyle for the health benefits it offers.

A rise in both diagnosis and public awareness over the past five years has led to an increase in establishments offering gluten free foods and Gluten Free Ireland has been keen to promote those venues offering gluten free foods.

Gluten Free Ireland
Gluten Free Ireland was started by husband and wife, Derek and Christina Thompson from their home in Ballynahinch in 2010. Since then www.glutenfreeireland.com, built by their son Michael, has become one of the best known and most active communities for people with Coeliac disease in Northern Ireland and Ireland.
