Vedanta Scholarship Distribution Program

SALEM, India - Oct. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- The Madras Aluminium Company Ltd (MALCO) a unit of Vedanta Group has distributed Vedanta Scholarship for meritorious students of Malco Vidyalaya. For the cause of promoting higher education, Malco has instituted Vedanta Scholarship. The scholarship was given to the students who have good academic records for pursuing higher education.

The scholarship of Rs. 4.40 lakhs was distributed to 40 meritorious students for their pursuing higher studies in medicines & engineering graduation and also for higher education in Malco Vidyalaya.

MALCO’s CSR endeavors focuses on education, health, infrastructure, livelihood and women empowerment for the benefit of nearby community. Malco as a responsible corporate iscontinuouslyworking towards educational initiatives in the nearby targeted villages in Mettur. Malco runs eight evening study centers at Mettur, to meet the need for continuous education and to reduce school drop outs. It provided quality education to 296 rural children and also supported government schools in the plant’s vicinity by distributing study materials and creating infrastructure facilities aligned with Government.

The Vedanta Scholarship was distributed by the distinguished chief guest Mr Sanjaykumar IPS, DIG of Police - Salem Division in the presence of Malco officials Mr. C Murugeswaran - Whole Time Director & Head Operations, Mr P Kumar - Head Commercial & Power Sales, Mr. R.Kandasamy - Head HR of and Dr. Devarajalu - Principal, Malco Vidyalaya on September 28, 2013 (Saturday).

The Chief Guest Mr Sanjaykumar IPS, DIG of Police - Salem Division delivered valuable message to students which highly motivated the students and also requested the parents not to make their kids book worms but make them as useful citizens of our country. He emphasized on the holistic development of the students.

Mr C Murugeswaran - Whole Time Director & Head Operations of Malco, in his speech “he remembered the pioneer of the institution Mr Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta Resources Plc., and Mr Navin Agarwal, Vice-Chairman of Vedanta Resources Plc.,. They have instituted the award and guiding us for developing the school by way of providing the quality of education to the students in Mettur. He also expressed the various educational and social initiatives done by Malco for the benefit of the nearby community”
