Integrated Resource Management for Projects and Portfolios

Efficient resouce allocation and resource management for each project organization

AMERSFOORT, Netherlands - Oct. 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Amersfoort, October 3rd, 2013 – Today, Fortes Solutions announces a fully integrated resource management solution for its Principal Toolbox (http://www.fortesglobal.com/en/solutions), the software for project and portfolio management. This new release of the Principal Toolbox meets the demands of customers like FrieslandCampina, Air France KLM en Alliander to streamline the process of requesting and allocating resources to projects. Potential bottlenecks in resource availability and in hours and costs spent are instantly made visible thanks to the improved graphical reports and dashboards.

Integrated Resource Management

The software supports both resource managers and project managers. It provides the resource manager with everything needed to effectively manage teams, resources and skills, while it supports the project manager in the requesting new resources. The latter often is a complicated process, as project plannings regularly are updated together with the resource needs. Thanks to the new resource management functionality in the Principal Toolbox, resource requests now can be directly based on the project plan.
Project members were already able to register their hours in the timesheets in the Principal Toolbox. Thanks to the improved hours dashboard, employees as well as the project organization now have a clear overview of all hours requested, allocated and actually spent.

Productivity Enhancements

Next to improvements in resource management (http://www.fortesglobal.com/en/resource-management) and time registration, the new release of the Principal Toolbox also provides a range of productivity enhancements. Multiple documents simultaneously can be associated with a project, program or portfolio using a ‘drag-drop’ action. Also, reports can now be shown faster in Excel, or exported to PowerPoint. Moreover, so-called user groups are supported in the new Principal Toolbox, making it much easier to add multiple resources to a project or resource pool.
Ruud Peltzer, Chief Sales Officer at Fortes Solutions: “Thanks to the new release of the Principal Toolbox, our customers are able to collaborate in projects, programs and strategic portfolios even more efficiently. Moreover, the integrated resource management approach guarantees an optimal allocation and deployment of resources across the various projects.”

Improved Reporting Capabilities

Using the completely revised Gantt-editor (http://www.fortesglobal.com/nl/projectmanagement-0) all activities and products can be planned in, including dependencies, milestones, baselines, resources and budgets. Furthermore, the Gantt planning can be printed or added as image to reports and project documentation. The reporting capabilities have been further improved. Several new diagrams have been added, such as a scatter plot, a gauge chart and an hours diagram. Moreover, existing charts like the risk matrix, the burn-down chart, the bubble chart and the resource utilization diagram have been improved.
On top of this, the ‘portfolio dashboards (http://www.fortesglobal.com/nl/portfoliomanagement-0)’ have now been made generally available. With these dashboards, portfolio managers can create various cross-sections of all projects in their portfolio.

The new Principal Toolbox 6.5 is immediately available in English, German, French and Dutch. Migration of project models created in previous versions of the Principal Toolbox is fully supported in version 6.5.
