Follow on Google News | Hospitalised Dental Law Partnership Client Wins £9KA woman who was left in hospital after her dentist ignored an infection has received £9,250 in an out of court settlement thanks to the UK’s leading dental negligence solicitor, the Dental Law Partnership.
By: The Dental Law Partnership The alleged dental negligence resulted in hospitalisation for the client. She originally attended her dentist regarding the complaint in March 2009. She was suffering from swelling around a tooth and the bottom right side of her mouth. She had already attended hospital with the complaint and received antibiotics. Official notes show that the dentist did observe restriction of the mouth opening and also noted that the tooth was tender. In spite of this however, he chose not to investigate the swelling further. Instead he simply prescribed more antibiotics. Just three days later, the woman had grown increasingly worried about the swelling and this lead her to return to the hospital. Here, the doctor noted extensive swelling and a large dental abscess on the offending tooth. Her condition left her unable to eat solid food, had a high fever, sweating and a numb lip. The client underwent an operation to drain the infection and remove the tooth. In total, the woman spent four nights in hospital. After the operation, the woman required physiotherapy due to an inability to open her mouth far enough. This meant that she was still unable to eat properly, particularly certain foods. After contacting the Dental Law Partnership, she was able to successfully claim compensation in an out of court settlement, even though her original dentist did not admit any liability. The money she received will compensate subsequent treatment as well as pain and suffering. The Dental Law Partnership provides specialist dental law support to the victims of dental negligence.
