MAXIM CORMIER - Canadian Folk Music Award Nominee

DARTMOUTH, Nova Scotia - Oct. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Halifax, NS – Another award nomination for the young musician from Chéticamp, NS.

It was announced last week by the Canadian Folk Music Awards; Maxim Cormier is a nominee for Solo Instrumentalist of the Year 2013. This nomination follows Music Nova Scotia – 2013 Francophone Recording of the Year and Music Nova Scotia – 2013 Roots/Traditional Recording of the Year.

The 23 year old virtuoso guitarist, is no stranger to nominations and awards. In 2012, he received The Celtic Colours International Festival, Festival Volunteer Driver’ers Association The Frank “Big Sampie” Sampson Award, making it possible for him to record and release his debut album self-titled Maxim Cormier.

The album was well received nationally and internationally.

In Canada, his original track “Fathers Know Best” will be on the Celtic Colours 2013 compilation album, highlighting the interest of the industry for his work.

In the coming weeks, the public will have a chance to enjoy Maxim as he will be performing:

·     during The Celtic Colours International Festival, October 17th, Judique Community Center at 7:30PM and October 19th, Strathspey Place, Mabou at 2:00PM

·         in Halifax, on October 27th at The Carleton Music Bar and Grill.

·        during Nova Scotia Music Week, in Sydney, Nov. 8th at 11:00pm at Governor’s Pub & Eatery

With recording his second album to be released in Spring 2014, there is no doubt the young composer has a busy schedule for the months to come while completing his final year of studies at Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS.
