FAIR HAVEN, N.J. - Oct. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Fair Haven, NJ - Nearly 50 special needs men and women attended a free Special Needs Social, presented by the Knights of Columbus Council 3187 and hosted by special needs ambassadors from the Center for Vocational Rehabilitation (CVR). The inaugural event was held at the Knights of Columbus council hall in Fair Haven on Thursday, September 19th, 2013. “The Special Needs Social was truly an amazing and unique experience for everyone involved,” said Travis Johnson, Event Director.

“Our special needs CVR ambassadors were involved with every aspect of the event, from planning the music and putting up the decorations to setting up and breaking down. It was so rewarding to see their efforts validated with a tremendous turnout and more smiles than I could count.”

In addition to donating the hall at no cost, volunteers from the Knights of Columbus Council 3187 played a large role in the success of the event.

“The Knights of Columbus have taught me a lot about the importance of charity and giving back in any way that you can,” said Lucas Booth, Event Co-Chair/2nd Degree Knight. “People with special needs are deserving of our compassion and support. I am proud to be a part of an organization that is so active in the community and I cannot wait until we do it again.”

The event was also supported by student volunteers from Red Bank Catholic and Lincroft Brownie Troop 101, who donated gift bags, decorations and dessert platters.
