DURHAM, N.C. - Oct. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- The first week in December is usually a celebratory time at the Southside Church of Christ, when women from all over the country converge on the 800 Elmira Avenue sanctuary for a weekend of uplifting and encouraging lectures, seminars and workshops. For the first time, this 29-year-old Annual Ladies’ Lectureship will have a community-service component that the group hopes will meet the need of many in Durham and beyond.

With the theme of "Above All, Love," the congregation's community outreach ministry is placed squarely in the spotlight, with its first Count 4 COST campaign. COST, Community Outreach Spiritually Together, works in conjunction with Food Bank of North Carolina to feed homeless and needy citizens of Durham and surrounding communities.

Ricki Fuller, women's counselor at the Southside congregation, said COST holds weekly food give-aways for homeless individuals and families in the community. "During the holidays, it is particularly difficult for parents who have hungry mouths to feed, and this is our way to help," she said.

The Count 4 Cost food drive will be held Friday evening, December 6, at beginning at 6 p.m. and Saturday, December 7 starting at 8 a.m. Donations can be made at the Southside Church of Christ Multipurpose Building at 800 Elmira Avenue, For more information about this event, contact Fuller at the Southside Church of Christ, (919) 688-3535, or e-mail service@sside.org.
