EUGENE, Ore. - Oct. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Northwest Media, Inc. has published the DVD Interview With a Mother About Addiction & Foster Care, now for sale on SocialLearning.com®.

This is a candid interview with a real mother who lost custody of her children. Without making excuses for her behavior, she talks about her own abusive childhood, her drug use, how she neglected her children while using, and what she had to endure before she was willing to get clean and work to get her kids back. What shines through it all is the deep love she feels for her children and her gratitude toward their foster mother, who took care of them while she got her life on track.

She also advocates for children taken into foster care by urging foster parents to accept the kids where they are at. Kids who have lost everything and are suddenly expected to live a typical middle class existence are going to struggle. Balanced meals at normal meal times, basic hygiene routines and other practices many children take for granted may be alien to children entering care, and she encourages gentleness and patience with the kids.

The 12-minute DVD was produced by Northwest Media in conjunction with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services Parents in Partnership Program and TIES for Adoption. It was filmed in Los Angeles.

The DVD is item number 7336 on www.sociallearning.com and retails for $59.00.
