Follow on Google News | Chelsea Literary Week | 30th October- 2nd November 2013Chelsea comes alive with reading and poetry to mark the launch of its first literary festival
By: Cadogan Estates Over the course of three days, visitors to the mini-festival will enjoy literary readings by jongleurs in the surrounds of some of London’s most iconic streets. Shoppers can just listen and enjoy or they can get involved with the pop-up poetry, by entering their best-loved poems into a literary ballot box, stationed beside the pop-up poets. If their poem is chosen it will be read aloud over the course of the day by Chelsea’s bards in residence. If shoppers are feeling like budding wordsmiths, they can take to the Pavilion Road poetry wall, a magnetised wall in which words can move to create quotes, haikus, laments and lyrics. If relaxing rather than taking part is preferred, shoppers can enjoy a warming hot chocolate as part of a storybook reading for children. Stories will include literary classics such as The Hungry Caterpillar, Charlotte’s Web and The Gruffallo. The fun can continue at home, as visitors will be given a chance to win a Kindle e-reader as well as daily prizes of Amazon book vouchers. Visitors can enter their name into the draw across stores on Pavilion Road and Sloane Square to be in with a chance to win. End
