Follow on Google News | Art Depth to host "Public Art Event" as part of Chicago Artists Month 2013By: Art Depth During the event, the city’s finest artists, photographers and videographers will be busy creating, and Art Depth Event Producer and Director Cheryl Postrozny hopes their intentions will be none othat than just that - to create. “They are not there to put on a show, although some spectators would like to believe so. This is meant to be art creation in its purest form, or close to it” noted Postrozny who plans to stop taking reservations when the guest-list count has reached far less than capacity. The Featured Artists were carefully selected and will serve as inspiration for all attendees, as well as to fill a unique component of what one imagines “Goddess” to be in this day and age. Chicago-based David Abed, a figurative painter whose work has dealt with issues of fertility, will be working from a special model - performance artist Scarlet Monk. Abed’s work is currently up at The Century Guild. Featured Artist & Photographer, Alejandra Guerrero’s could be categorized as “erotic” but this would fail to define the depth she shares in terms of mood, composition and perfect (nonetheless ris·qué) moments. In a male dominated world, she takes ownership of this genre “…not by depicting women as sex objects, but as powerful beings who express themselves through their bodies and sexuality” says Guerrero. Two additional Featured Artists will combine forces symbolically, as Chicago-based fine artist Jessica Juarez and Mexican fashion designer Summer Romero will work together and bring to fruition the nature/nurture idea of Goddess. Earth, Wind, Fire and Water are the elements, but when Romero combines them with their respective animal signs, the models begin to take on a whole new shape – both figuratively, symbolically as well as fashion-wise. Romero’ This is one art event that should not be missed by artists and art-lovers. There is no admission fee, and guests will reap the energies of DJ RomaSoul’s heart pounding Goddess beats, Randi Russo’s live show (NOTE: she’s been dubbed “guitar goddess” by The Village Voice and “a rock and roll poetess in the rough”) as well as performance artist Lady Jack‘s Vintage Fan Dance. Six of Chicago’s best figure models will be posed in costume for the duration of the event –a full five hours. If that’s not enough it gets better, as luxurious VIP booths will be set up. One dedicated to the Chicago based The Venus Collective, which will be offering mini readings and more, and another VIP area which will be invite-only and provides the backdrop for Alejandra Guerrero’s impromptu photo studio. Additional photo studios will be set up, plus a cash bar, food menu, interactive, collaborative section, best-dressed competition and more. Materials will be provided but attending artists may bring their own (only pencils and digital art-making tools are allowed at this space. Photography is also allowed.)
