GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sept. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- It has been known for decades as the attraction in the Triad that creates the most frightening experiences - and this year the Woods of Terror in Greensboro doesn’t disappoint.  This year,  Woods of Terror is offering a new experience for visitors called Blackout.

Upon entering this psychological attraction that offers a journey of the mind, visitors will be asked to put on a hood to limit their ability to see. They will then follow a rope through several shipping containers and will experience the element extremes of earth, wind, fire and. They may feel like they are being circled by a swarm of bees, or in the middle of a tornado. Visitors will have to heighten their senses of touch, smell and hearing. It is similar to the TV show Total Blackout.

“At Woods of Terror you are getting the real experience. We try to outdo ourselves every year and that’s what keeps people coming back,” says Eddie McLaurin, Woods of Terror owner.  “This year’s Black Out is no different. It offers a sensory experience that’s like no other. People trust us to offer them a thrill they won’t soon forget. Plus, we have all our favorite haunts that visitors come back to see year after year.”

Woods of Terror was named Best Haunted House in North Carolina by Haunted House.com, and it was selected as one of the 11 best haunts in the country by Reader’s Digest.  MSN has also consistently ranked the attraction as one of its Top 20 haunts in the U.S.

It takes more than 100 actors and 130 total staff with years of experience to pull off such a great production. Every year, thousands of visitors from all over the Southeast seek out chills and thrills at Woods of Terror. It is considered one of the most successful haunted attractions in the country featuring lavish, Hollywood-style special effects.

One of the biggest factors in making the trail as scary as possible is the characters, particularly their appearances. Whether the character is a pirate or a zombie, the behind-the-scenes work in making the character look as realistic as possible can take hours to complete.
