15th Annual Food Drive benefiting the Salvation Army Food Bank
Make A Difference Day Award Winning Project held Supported By Las Vegas Celebrities and Local Businesses
As tradition with the award winning food drive, celebrities and local personalities will lend their support for the cause making appearances throughout the day including: Celebrity Blogger VegasDeluxe.com Robin Leach, FOX-5 More Show Reporter Maria Silva, Community Activist Heidi Hayes, FOX-5 Chief Meteorologist Ted Pretty, Design & Lifestyle Author Joseph Vassallo, CBP, ABC TV-13 News Anchor Cassie Smith, Celebrity Photographer (Americas Next Top Model) Jerry Metellus and City of Las Vegas -Mayor Pro Tem Stavros Anthony. Event volunteers join celebrities in greeting shoppers, receiving donations and shopping for nonperishable food items to donate to this great cause.
Smith’s Food & Drug has graciously been the host site for the food drive for 15 years and has committed a generous donation for 2013. Event supporters include KTNV TV-13, Pictographics, FOX-5, Paragon Pools, Jerry Metellus Photography, Inc. and UNLV Lee Business School EMBA Program.
To date, the yearly food drive has collected over 48,440 lbs. of non-perishable foods and personal hygiene items. The Food Drive was recognized nationally in 2012 by the Make A Difference Day organizers: USA Magazine, the Points of Light and Newman’s Own Foundation as one of 10 notable projects from thousands held in 2011.
The Salvation Army Food Bank services over 200 families a day, 52 weeks a year!
