New Health & Fitness Board Game Wins Dr. Toy 10 Best Games for 2013

LunchBox Kids, LLC Lago Vista, Texas - The health & fitness board game, LunchBox Kids, has been awarded Dr. Toy’s 10 Best Games for 2013* and is being implemented into over 50 Texas elementary school’s physical education curriculum.

LEANDER, Texas - Oct. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Teachers and fitness professionals like the inclusive approach to the game. It is excellent for the classroom, PE or at home. Being cross-curricular, it aligns with many state requirements such as TEKS and uses the multiple intelligence aspects of learning (Visual-Spatial, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Linguistic and Logical-Mathematical). Also, included with every game is a Food Chart and a Workout Poster for complete health and fitness education.

CEO/inventor and fitness trainer, Liz Northcutt, says “The game is all about trying to get on a kids level, where children can learn about health and fitness all on their own. It teaches them about cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cholesterol, calories, muscles, bones, carbohydrates, whole foods, processed foods, macro-nutrients and how to make their body strong through exercise. By tapping into a child’s imagination using a board game as a focal point for fitness, I have witnessed an extreme response from the kids for a willingness to learn!”

The game involves earning golden tickets by rolling the “food dice” and landing on game spaces with trivia and fitness prompts; answering health and fitness questions from the 400 pop quiz cards and performing exercise challenges such as push-ups, crunches, jumping jacks, frog jumps, stretches, and more.

With childhood obesity on the rise, the LunchBox Kids board game tackles the problem by making learning fun and gives the children a platform to learn on their own.
