ABOUT THE EVENT

Indigenous representation in most workforces continues to be very disproportionate across many organisations. A variety of social, cultural and organisational issues contribute to this under-representation, with the challenges facing Indigenous people and communities varied, long-standing and complex. Many organisations are seeing the vast benefits of improving organisational diversity and increasing the number of Indigenous people and are slowly developing and implementing Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) to consolidate their commitment to recruiting, training and advancing Indigenous people.

The National Indigenous Career Advancement Forum 2013 showcases a variety of new case studies from organisations that are dedicated to diversity and have been successful in their quest to increase Indigenous representation through engagement, mentoring, education and advancement programs. The forum provides an interactive platform to discuss new and innovative employment strategies and proven practices to retain and develop Indigenous employees. The event focuses on the importance of cultural intelligence and awareness and how a supportive and safe culture is the key to successful, long-term Indigenous employment and career advancement.
