SAN ANTONIO - Sept. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- The Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council introduces a new superheroes themed Scout camp on Saturday, September 28, 2013, at the beautiful 140 acre McGimsey Scout Park located in Castle Hills.  A full day of activities is planned including swimming, sports, nature, BB Guns, archery, and crafts.  The new Scouts, many of which were recruited in the spring and fall of 2013, will have the opportunity to come up with their own superhero name to place on their created capes and masks.  Media is invited to see the Scouts in action on Saturday, September 28th from 8:45 a.m. – 11 a.m. at McGimsey Scout Park located at 10810 Wedgewood, San Antonio, TX 78231.

“We want every boy to see themselves as a superhero...that even as young as they are, they CAN make a difference.  The Scouting program changes lives, and our goal is to help open young eyes to realize being a superhero is not a fantasy, but a reality through reaching out and serving others,” says Michael de los Santos, Scout Executive, Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America

The Superhero Academy, focusing on newly enrolled boys in first through fifth grade, was created as a fun way to build confidence in the new Scouts and help motivate them towards achievement.  The Alamo Area Council is expecting over 300 participants, including kids, parents and volunteers.

For many new parents and Scout volunteers, this is also their first introduction to a Scouting camp program.  Volunteering for the Scouts can be an aid to good parenting; Scouting gives involved parents the confidence and resources to work alongside their boys in whatever activities may come their way.
