The asking price for the acquisition was between 100-150 million. The exact number has not been disclosed, but private equity groups across the nation are looking for successful franchise models to purchase. Rorke Capital, for instance is a private equity group that has acquired 9 other Francorp Clients. Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, a company Francorp built from two carts to over 1,000 units, has recently added a new revenue stream to their concept to keep up with the breakfast crowd. The addition of breakfast sandwiches and pretzels will add a completely new market for this chain. They have successfully rolled this out in 100 units in transit hubs, and are working to have a grand total of about 50 menu items by the end of 2013. They are still considering rolling out the breakfast system wide. It comes as no surprise that these sandwiches will be served on pretzel bread. Auntie Anne’s is also another company which is in the Rorke Capital group portfolio. Francorp’ These incredible growths show that franchising is still the market to be in, even in a down economy. There are many benefits with the nuances in the market. In 2012 franchising grew over 1% in the national market. Franchising has seen consistent growth every year since 2009, and Francorp has been leading the way! There has even been a 3.5% increase on household spending for takeout food, based on the 2011 statistics. This means that more families are annually spending more on food.
