Follow on Google News | Volunteers Needed for New Hospice Residence in HinghamOpportunities to share cooking, gardening and companionship.
By: PR First Located on Turkey Hill adjacent to the Weir River Farm, the hospice residence will provide a much needed home for people under hospice care who can no longer stay in their own home. No such residence exists for South Shore residents; of the nine hospice homes in the state, the closest are in Needham and on Cape Cod. Volunteers play a vital role in NVNA and Hospice’s program at the non-profit Hospice Residence in Hingham, which is dedicated to helping people with life ending illness spend their final days in comfort and dignity, surrounded by loved ones. Volunteers provide a variety of services that can include contact with patients by providing companionship through listening and reading or helping staff with laundry, or meal preparation. Other volunteer roles involve clerical and administrative tasks within the program. Opportunities also exist for gardening as the grounds offer several areas and beds to decorate. All volunteer applicants undergo screening and a training program that covers all aspects of hospice. If interested in volunteering, please call 781-659-2342. “The Hospice Residence in Hingham exists to serve families across the South Shore and we welcome and rely on the talents of our volunteers,” About NVNA and Hospice Founded in 1920, NVNA and Hospice is the only independent, non-profit home health care and hospice agency serving the South Shore.
