PRLog -- Though using deadly force is justified under the right set of conditions, the average citizen would prefer not to take someone’s life if possible when defending himself. This is especially true given the legal ramifications for doing so that exist today. “Stun guns and pepper sprays are a truly viable alternative to lethal force, and they’re available right now to everyone”, said Jonathan Barraclough, owner of Power Tek Defense, a retail outlet for self-defense products www.non-lethaldefensesolutions.com.
Pepper sprays, which contain an active ingredient called OC or Oleo Resin Capsicum, causes an immediate reaction where the eyes close shut and the respiratory system is inhibited. The attacker is rendered incapable of continuing to act. Some pepper sprays also contain a dye which marks the skin of the attacker making him easy to identify later to the authorities. Stun guns put out high-voltage electricity which inhibits the muscular control of the attacker. Within a couple of seconds of contact the attacker is on the ground dazed and incapable of functioning. Both of these products are inexpensive and readily available to the public without the need for special permits, licenses or background checks. Certain states do limit the use of stun guns so be sure to check with your local authorities. “The bottom line is nobody needs to be a victim anymore!” says Mr. Barraclough.
