*On Saturday, September 28, 2013, the International Karate Organization (IKO) Kyokushinkaikan will host the 2013 All American Open International Karate Championships in the ’Capitol of the World’, New York City.  With over 100 participants from North, South & Central America, and world class fighters from nations around the globe, the All American Open has been touted as the superior full-contact karate championship on this continent.

         *The All American Open consistently draws national attention from fight fans and martial arts enthusiasts who flock to NYC to witness this event, and tens of thousands more who tune in to the Kyokushinkaikan USTREAM Channel to see the matches unfolding live from their computer screens around the world. Additionally, these Championships will be covered by FCI TV for broadcast in Japan, where the Kyokushin system of karate is honored and renowned.

         *Confirmed fighters at this year’s event are amongst the best knockdown fighters in the world today, including the 3x All American Open Defending Champion, Zahari DAMYANOV of Bulgaria; the current All Japan Super Heavyweight Champion from Ukraine, Oleksandr IEROMENKO; the World Heavyweight Champion from Spain, Alejandro NAVARRO; and the Women’s World Middleweight Champion & 9x All American Women’s Defending Champion, Julie LAMARRE of Canada.

         *The IKO Kyokushinkaikan and their US Flagship Branch, Kyokushin USA / KKNY are the producers and local hosts for this event, the 18th annual such amateur athletic knockdown karate competition in New York City. In the last 2decades, Kyokushin USA events in New York & Los Angeles have been honored to receive the recognition and support of Mayors of the City of New York, Rudolph W. Giuliani & Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, Antonio R. Villaraigosa, United States Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Presidents of the United States of America, William J. Clinton & George W. Bush.

         *MAS OYAMA, founder (1923-1994) and his legacy organization, the IKO Kyokushinkaikan, developed a worldwide amateur karate tournament circuit that seeks to promote the martial arts athlete to the best of their natural ability in a moving and inspirational environment that is an ultimate test of the human spirit.  Through the presentation of healthy competitive challenges it is the goal of the Kyokushinkaikan to promote camaraderie, mutual exchange and international friendship in the hopes our society can someday soon achieve World Peace.
