Johnny The Oldies Singer Plays Cupid For Long Island Couple

LINDENHURST, N.Y. - Sept. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- John Cannella a #LongIslandSinatraSinger who goes by the stage name Johnny The Oldies Singer normally sings for hunders of people at all kinds of large events. However, on September 20, 2013 he sang for only two when he was summoned by a lovesick hopelessly romantic East Meadow man who recruited the singer to help him convince a very beautiful woman to marry him.. When Troy first called me explains Cannella, I really though that somebody was pulling a prank on me. However when he called again and we had a long conversation I said to myself this is actually for real. The gentleman named Troy wanted me to sing romantic ballads while he proposed to his lady..Diana.He wanted to create a very romantic mood and he really put a lot of effort into doing just that..He set up a hardwood elevated platform in his backyard which was flanked on all four corners with burning torches. In the center of the platform was a table set for two covered with a beautiful white linen table cloth, crystal glasses, candles, long stemmed roses and a bottle of champagne chilling in a golden bucket of ice.. Scattered all about the floor and table were red and white rose petals.. Troy had told Diana that they were going out to dinner and stalled her while Johnny set up his audio gear and Diana's mom Pat put the finishing  touches on the table. "Troy and Pat told me that Diana loved the oldies and so we figured that the song "Diana" by Paul Anka would be an appropriate song for me to sing when she arrived and walked into the backyard" said Cannella. Upon arriving Diana was truly shocked and overwhelmed although she wasn't quite sure what all the fuss was about..Afterall, it wasn't her birthday or any other occasion that warranted such an exotic celebration.."I was sure hoping that after all this that she was going to say yes. However, I assured Troy that if she said no that I had a daughter who would definitely say yes"..laughed Johnny.  Well anyway, Troy didn't waste much time. About 10 minutes into dinner he got down on one knee with ring in hand and Diana nodded her head in the affirmative while tears streamed down her face and Johnny played "Will You Marry Me" by John Berry. The night was starlit and a beautiful 70 degrees and the couple danced the night away while Johnny sang and sang and sang for 3 hours.. " I don't ever remember singing for that long consecutively" said Cannella. I was not only running out of love songs. I was running out of vocal cords..." But the night was a very, very happy and emotional one and I was so glad and gratified to have been a part of what surely will be a lifelong cherished memory for these nice people" remarked Johnny. And " they have asked me to appear at their wedding which is an honor I wouldn't miss for the world because I'm sure my new friend Troy has some more romantic tricks up his sleeve."
