-- Are you looking for practical advice on how to write and illustrate children’s books? At the Oliver Wolcott Library on Wednesday, October 2, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. children’s book author and artist, Julie C. Phillipps will offer useful tips to help aspiring writers get started. Her presentation will include information regarding conferences one should attend, agents, pertinent books to read as well as worksheets and handouts for audience members to take home.
Julie C. Phillipps studied art and theater at Hope College and earned her MA from Emerson College. Her interest in writing and illustrating children’s books began while teaching afterschool programs to Kindergartners and First Graders. She is a member of Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and the author and illustrator of four children’s books; Wink: The Ninja Who Wanted to Take a Nap, Wink: The Ninja Who Wanted to be Noticed, Monkey Ono,
and The Simples Love a Picnic
which is due for release in April 2014. In addition, Julie shows her collage and watercolor her work in the Greater Hartford area. Her website is www.jcphillipps.com
